Liberty senior goalkeeper Kristen Masullo and the rest of the Lady Flames have been picked to finish fifth in the Big South this season.

The Liberty lacrosse team has been voted to finish fifth in the Big South standings this season, through a preseason poll conducted among conference head lacrosse coaches.

This marks the second season in a row that the Lady Flames have appeared fifth in the Big South preseason poll. Liberty is coming off its best season in program history, posting eight wins in 2013 and reaching the semifinals of the inaugural Big South Lacrosse Championship. The Lady Flames, under the direction of first-year head coach Kelly Nangle, return eight starters from last season's squad and welcome a talented group of 11 freshmen.

Reigning league champion High Point was once again tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the league, garnering seven of eight first-place votes and 63 points overall. Davidson, last season's Big South runner-up, was voted to finish in second after collecting the final first-place vote and 57 points total.

Longwood (40) and Winthrop (39) were picked to finish in third and fourth, respectively, followed by Liberty (35) in fifth and Coastal Carolina (30) in sixth. Campbell (16) and Presbyterian College (8) round out the poll in seventh and eighth place, respectively.

The Lady Flames kick off their 2014 campaign on Feb. 7 at Richmond. Liberty's first home contest is scheduled for Feb. 21 versus Elon.

The Big South Lacrosse Championship gets under way on April 30 with four quarterfinal contests and concludes on May 4 with the title match.
