MBB Game Day Central: Presbyterian College
Liberty looks to bounce back from a two-game skid in conference play when it hosts Presbyterian College, Saturday. The Blue Hose enter the contest seeking their first Big South win of the season, as they sit 0-5 in league action. The contest marks the first time the two squads have matched up in the Vines Center in over two years. In the last meeting, the Blue Hose escaped with a 63-56 victory. Tipoff for the 13th installment in the all-time series is slated for 7 p.m., with the contest airing live on the Liberty Flames Sports Network, MASN, ESPN3 and Big South Network.
Joining the Club - Antwan Burrus needs three more points to join John Caleb Sanders (1,247 points) as the 24th member of Liberty's 1,000-point club. Burrus' addition to the club would mark the sixth pairing to play alongside one another while being members of the 1,000-point club. Along with his point total, Burrus is also second in program history with 116 blocks and 12th in career rebounding with 512 boards.
1,000-Point Club Notes - Currently, five pairs of Liberty players have play alongside each other while each being members of the 1,000-point club – George Sweet (1,422) and Mike Goad (1,013) in 1975, Mark Chafin (1,951) and Willard DeShazor (1,545) in 1977, Karl Hess (2,373) and Ed Vickers (1,658) in 1980, Greg McCauley (1,228) and Cliff Webber (1,100) in 1985 and Peter Aluma (1,715) and Larry Jackson (1,539) in 1997.
- Along with John Caleb Sanders, Antwan Burrus has played alongside two other Liberty players who finished their careers as 1,000-point club members – Jesse Sanders (1,235 points, 2009-12) and Kyle Ohman (1,141 points, 2007-10).
