Former Flames standout football player Rashad Jennings was recently named Raiders.com Co-Offensive Player of the Year, following the best season of his professional career.

Jennings signed as a free agent with the Oakland Raiders in the offseason and was slated to serve as a back-up to Darren McFadden in 2013. However, McFadden suffered an injury midseason and Jennings seized the opportunity as the Raiders' new starting running back.

Jennings finished the 2013 season rushing for 733 yards and six touchdowns, accounting for new career highs in both statistical categories. He also added 36 receptions for 292 yards and recorded two blocked punts early in the year when his primary playing opportunities were coming on special teams.

Jennings was drafted in the seventh round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009 and in four seasons rushed for 944 yards and seven touchdowns.

Jennings recorded two 100-yard rushing performances in 2013. He rushed for 102 yards on 15 carries against the Philadelphia Eagles, while adding seven receptions for 74 yards. Two weeks later, Jennings rushed 22 times for a career-best 150 yards against Houston, including a career-long touchdown run of 80 yards.

Jennings also finished the year ranked 18th in the NFL in rushing yards after contact, finishing the season with 442 yards.

Jennings shared Raiders.com Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors with wide receiver Rod Streater. In his second year with the franchise, Streater nearly doubled the offensive output of his rookie season, finishing the year with 60 receptions for 888 yards and four touchdowns.

In his three seasons with the Flames (2006-08), Jennings was named Big South Offensive Player of the Year twice (2007 and 2008) and he was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award during his senior campaign.

Jennings holds Liberty's program record with 42 career rushing touchdowns and ranks third in program history with 3,633 career rushing yards.

The Forest, Va., native finished his senior year at Liberty rushing for a program and Big South-record 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns. In 2008, he ranked No. 5 nationally in rushing yards per game (136.36), No. 6 in scoring (10.36 points per game) and No. 16 in average all-purpose yards per game (153.64).
