Josh McDougal is the Big South Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Liberty junior Josh McDougal, who earned a pair of All-America distinctions at this past weekend's NCAA Division I National Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., is this week's Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

McDougal (Peru, N.Y.) captured the conference award for the second-consecutive week and for the fourth time overall this season after garnering All-America recognition in the 5,000 meters and at 3,000 meters. The junior is now a nine-time All-American, and five of those honors have come in indoor track and field.

The native of New York opened the meet with an eighth-place finish in Friday's 5,000-meter final in a time of 13:49.97. McDougal's time, the second-best effort in school and Big South history, was actually faster than his clocking at the same meet a season ago, when he finished fourth.

McDougal came back the next day to run a season-best 3,000-meter time of 7:55.40, allowing him cross the line third. He had never finished as high as third in a national championship race before, but the race marked McDougal's third-straight top five finish in the 3K indoor national championship.

While McDougal was in Arkansas, his teammates opened the outdoor track and field season at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Many of the Liberty athletes will once again compete in Conway, S.C., this weekend, at Friday and Saturday's Shamrock Invitational. Selected runners will also head to the Big Dawg Invitational in Baltimore and the Radford Early Bird Invite on Saturday.
