MBB Game Day Central: Delaware
After posting a season-high 92 points against Southeastern on Saturday, the Liberty men's basketball will ring in the new year on the road against Delaware. The contest marks the first-ever meeting between the Flames and the CAA member. Liberty is looking for its first true road win this season, while the Blue Hens are playing in just their third home contest of the year. Tipoff inside the Bob Carpenter Center is slated for 3 p.m.
Entering Saturday's game against Southeastern averaging 14.8 turnovers, Liberty concluded the night committing just seven miscues, the fewest since committing seven in a 66-56 defeat at Winthrop on Feb. 2. The last time Liberty committed fewer than 10 turnovers in a game was during its 2013 Big South Championship final win over Charleston Southern on March 10, 2013. Liberty finished with eight turnovers in the 87-76 victory.
Painting a Bigger Picture
Against Southeastern, Liberty scored a season-high 58 points in the paint. Prior to the performance, Liberty had not posted above 50 points in the paint during a contest in nearly four years. The Flames' 58 points in the paint are the most since recording 66 in a 91-73 win over VMI on Jan. 28, 2010.
Coming into his Own
In his first 10 games of the season, Joe Retic posted 34 points (3.4 ppg) on 8-of-21 shooting (.381) from the field and 18-of-26 shooting (.692) at the foul line.
