Recently, Liberty Flames Sports Network reporter Alan York had a chance to sit down with Liberty Head Men's Golf Coach Jeff Thomas to recap his team's fall season.

Liberty finished the first half of its 2013-14 slate ranked No. 37 in the country by Golfstat and No. 36 by Golfweek.

Liberty bookended fourth-place finishes, spotlighting its fall schedule. The Flames opened the year with a fourth-place finish at the Northern Intercollegiate, played at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., which will host one of six NCAA Regionals in May. Liberty closed the fall with a fourth-place showing at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C.

Chase Marinell paced the Flames during their four-event fall schedule, posting under-par scores in three of the four events that led to three top 10 finishes for the senior golfer. Marinell is individually ranked No. 60 in the country by Golfstat.

Thomas also hired a new assistant coach during the fall, as former player and graduate assistant Eric Klinger returned to the program to join Thomas' staff as an assistant coach.

The Flames will begin the spring portion of their 2013-14 schedule with a return trip to Jacksonville's Sea Best Invitational, played at the famed TPC Sawgrass – Stadium Course. The two-day, 54-hole event in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., starts with 36 holes of action on Feb. 3, 2014.
