After making a successful Liberty debut, junior Fred Fulton has been named Co-ECAC Division I South Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week.

Fulton, who shared the award with Bucknell's Christian Lupica, won both the men's shot put and weight throw in impressive fashion at the Liberty Kickoff. The former NCAA Division III All-American at Messiah College also qualified for the IC4A meet in both events.

Fulton started the meet with a victory in the weight throw, reaching 57-8.5 to rank No. 5 in program history for the event. He then saved his best throw of the day for his sixth and final shot put attempt, which stretched the measuring tape to 57-1.5. Fulton won the event by nearly eight feet, claimed the No. 4 spot on Liberty's all-time list and currently ranks No. 16 nationally in the shot put.

Liberty is in the midst of a break from competition, and the Flames will not return to action until Jan. 17-18. That weekend, the Flames will host the Liberty Open at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center.
