The Liberty women's basketball team will step away from regular-season competition on Thursday, hosting Anderson (S.C.) for an exhibition game. The contest, set for a noon tipoff, will be the Lady Flames' second annual Best Field Trip Ever Day at the Vines Center.

A sizeable contingent of local elementary and middle school students will be in attendance to cheer on the Lady Flames on Thursday. Last year's inaugural Best Field Trip Ever Day, which took place during Liberty's 95-39 win over Virginia Union on Dec. 17, 2012, drew 3,230 raucous fans to the Vines Center.

The Lady Flames enter their first-ever meeting with the Trojans playing their best basketball of the season. Liberty has won three straight games, improving to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the Big South.

Redshirt sophomore Ashley Rininger is leading the way for the Lady Flames, topping the team in points (15.7 ppg) and rebounds (10.1 rpg). She is tied for sixth nationally with six double-doubles and has helped the Lady Flames climb to No. 2 in the nation with a +16.8 rebound margin.

Defending South Atlantic Conference champion Anderson is off to another strong start in 2013-14 under first-year head coach Jimmy Garrity. The Trojans are coming off of an 87-55 victory over conference rival Newberry, which pushed Anderson's record to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Junior guards Jasmine Franklin (10.1 ppg) and Sierra Simpson (10.0 ppg) pace the Trojans' balanced scoring attack. Anderson is a strong three-point shooting team, averaging just under six triples per game while shooting 36.9 percent from behind the arc.

Thursday will mark Anderson's second exhibition game against a Division I opponent this season. The Trojans dropped a 78-67 contest at Furman on Nov. 30.

With Thursday's game being an exhibition contest, the Liberty Flames Sports Network will not provide either a television or radio broadcast. However, live stats will be available.
