Former Liberty Flames Jose Gomez, Joshua Boateng and Osei Telesford were selected to Big South All-Decade Men's Soccer teams.

With three games left until the crowning of the 2013 Big South Men's Soccer Champion, the conference released its inaugural Big South Men's Soccer All-Decade teams, today. Part of the Big South's 30th anniversary celebration, the all-decade teams were determined by conference administrators and fan voting.

Three former Flames standouts were named to all-decade teams.  Forward Jose Gomez was selected to the 1990s decade men's soccer squad, while forward Joshua Boateng and defender Osei Telesford were named to the 2000s decade team.

Gomez was the 2000 Big South Player of the Year and a four-time Big South All-Conference team member from 1997-2000.  The Val Rico, Fla., native was selected to the all-conference first team in both 1999 and 2000, while being named to the all-conference second team in 1997 and 1998.  He also was named to All-South Atlantic Region in 1999 and 2000.

Gomez is tied for fifth on Liberty's career goals list with 32 and ranks sixth all-time on the program's career points list with 77.  In 2000 as a senior, the forward led the Flames in scoring with nine goals and three assists for 21 points.

In three seasons at Liberty (2006-08), Boateng earned All-American honors and was a three-time all-conference team member.  As a senior in 2008, the Accra, Ghana native was named a NSCAA/adidas All-American and was selected to the Big South All-Conference first team. Boateng also earned Big South Tournament MVP honors, as he helped lead the Flames to its first-ever conference title in 2007.

The forward finished his career with 21 goals, 13 assists and 55 points. In 2008, Boateng posted a team-high 32 points with 13 goals and six assists.  His season point total is tied for the sixth most in program history.

Telesford was a four-time Big South All-Conference team member from 2003-07.  The midfielder/defender was named to the conference's first team three times (2003, 2005-06).  In addition, Telesford was a two-time All-South Atlantic Region member in 2005 and 2006.

The San Juan, Trinidad native was a fixture on defense for the Flames, playing in 66 games during his time at Liberty.  In 2005, Telesford moved to the midfield and scored six goals, before returning to his familiar defender position for his senior season in 2006.
