Flames Fall to Longwood in Outdoor Home Opener

The Liberty Flames men's tennis team, playing their first outdoor home match of the season at the Hershey-Eshbenshade Courts, was defeated by Longwood 6-1 Thursday afternoon.

Singles competition featured Longwood's Carlos Garcia de Andoain winning at No. 1, defeating Liberty's Jarda Trojan in a tightly contested, three-set match. The Flames' Juan Reyes also dropped a three-set affair at No. 5 singles. Longwood won five of the six singles matches contested. Liberty's Fabricio Picanco was the Flames' lone winner on the afternoon with a straight-set victory at No. 6.

In doubles play, Longwood won all three matches contested to capture the point.

The Flames' record now stands at 3-4 on the campaign, and their schedule will continue on Saturday as they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to play the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
