Lady Flames Drop Match to Longwood

The Liberty Lady Flames tennis team was defeated in their first match of the season outdoors at the Hershey-Eshbenshade Courts, falling to Longwood 6-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Singles competition featured Liberty's Jonita Randolph winning her fifth-consecutive match at No. 1 singles. The Lady Flame senior defeated Longwood junior Elena Triebskorn in straight sets. Longwood, however, won the remaining five singles matches contested to conclude the match.

In doubles play, Longwood won all three matches contested to capture the point.

The Lady Flames' 2006-07 record now stands at 2-3. Liberty now begins a week-long road trip that will feature play against five different opponents. The trip begins on Saturday, as the Lady Flames' take on Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
