The Liberty University Flames (10-4, 0-0 Big South) host the George Washington University Colonials (1-9, 0-0 A-10) in a three-game weekend series at Worthington Stadium, Friday-Sunday, March 9-11. The series will begin on Friday at 2:30 p.m., followed by single games on both Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Series Against George Washington
The Flames and Colonials will meet for the 18th time on Friday with Liberty holding an 11-6 advantage in the all-time series since 1976. Last season, the two squads met in a three-game weekend series in Arlington, Va. with the Flames sweeping the series, 7-1, 3-0, and 12-8.
The Last Time Out
Starter David Stokes gave up one run on four hits over eight innings and Garrett Young and Aaron Grijalva went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in an 8-2 win at Old Dominion Tuesday.
Stokes struck out five and walked none in running his record to 3-1 on the year. The right-hander retired the first 10 hitters he faced before yielding a hit.
The Flames plated five runs in the fifth inning to build a 5-1 advantage, they never relinquished. Liberty batted around in the frame. Both Young and Grijalva drove in runs in the inning along with third baseman David Giammaresi, who smacked a two-out, two-run double.
