Liberty Hosts Presbyterian College for Big South Tilt

The Liberty Flames will look to extend their winning streak to three games, when they host the Presbyterian College Blue Hose for a Big South men's soccer contest, Friday evening. Game time at Osborne Stadium is schedule for 6 p.m.

The Flames' (6-5, 2-3 BSC) match with the Blue Hose (3-8, 1-3 BSC) will be the final game of a three-game span of home contests for Liberty.

A Look at Liberty
Blessing Tahuona, Tim Harbison and Sachem Wilson each scored goals, as the Flames defeated Howard, 3-0, in a non-conference contest, Tuesday evening at Osborne Stadium.

Tahuona netted his goal during the opening 45 minutes, while Harbison and Wilson tallied their markers in the second half.

With his goal, Tuesday, Wilson leads the Flames in goals, assists and points.  The sophomore has netted five goals and assisted on three others for 13 points. 

Harbison, who has scored a goal in three of Liberty's last four contests including Tuesday night, has tallied four goals and assisted on another for nine points.  Forward Kyle Breitmeyer and Tahuona join the pair as multiple-goal scorers this season, netting two goals apiece.

Tyler Bullock, Jonatan Torres, Sam Duininck, and Jacob Sebold have each scored a goal for the Flames in 2013.

Goalkeepers Jeremy Lee and Scott Sutarik have seen the bulk of the action in the

Liberty net this season. Lee has started the past three contests. The redshirt freshman has posted a 1.51 goals-against average and .731 save percentage.  He recorded the first shutout of his career in Liberty's 3-0 win, Tuesday night.

Liberty has posted five shutouts, all coming in victories this season.  As a team, Liberty enters Friday's game with a 1.35 goals-against average.

Liberty's Jeff Alder is in his 13th year as head coach at his alma mater.  Alder has posted a 122-91-22 career record, while heading the Flames' program.

All-Time Against Presbyterian College
Liberty and Presbyterian College will meet for sixth time, Tuesday.  The Flames hold a 5-0 advantage in the series.  The series began when the Blue Hose joined the Big South Conference in 2008.

Last season, Kyle Breitmeyer scored twice in a 2-1 Liberty victory in Clinton, S.C. on Oct. 12. The forward netted a goal in each half. 

A Look at Presbyterian College
The Presbyterian College Blue Hose will enter Friday's game looking to pick up a victory after back-to-back losses to Big South Conference opponents, UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb, in their last two outings.

Junior forward Josh Carter leads the Blue Hose in both goals (five) and points (11). Iganacio Monchetti is Presbyterian's other multi-goal scorer on the year, scoring three goals.

Senior goalkeeper Tyler Beadle has logged the majority of the minutes between the posts this season for the Blue Hose.  In nine games, Beadle has posted a 3.13 goals against average. 

Head coach Bret Boulware is in his 14th year at Presbyterian College, leading the Blue Hose program through its transition from Division II to the Division I level. The Presbyterian College alum has led his alma mater to an 86-133-19 record.

Home Sweet Home
This past Saturday, the Flames played at home for the first time since Sept. 24.  Of the Flames' first nine games this season, seven were on the road this season, where Liberty has recorded a 3-4 mark.

Friday, Liberty will complete a stretch of three straight home contests.  The Flames have won the first two of the three games.  Jeff Alder's team will complete the year by playing three of its last five contests on the road.

Big South Play
With their 3-2 double-overtime victory over Winthrop this past Saturday, Liberty has moved to 2-3 in Big South play. Including Friday night's contest, the Flames have five conference games remaining.

Liberty is 95-82-14 all-time in Big South Conference contests. The Flames have posted a .500 or better conference ledger in 20 out of their 22 seasons in the conference.

Liberty has won two Big South titles, both during head coach Jeff Alder's tenure.  Liberty captured conference titles in 2007 and 2011.

A Look Ahead
The Flames will step out of conference for their final non-conference match of the season, Tuesday.  Liberty will travel to Raleigh, N.C. for a match with the N.C. State Wolfpack.  Game time at Dali Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
