Longwood and Georgetown Await Lady Flames This Week

The Liberty Lady Flames field hockey team puts its four-game winning streak to the test this week with a pair of matchups. Liberty hosts Longwood on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in a showdown of the top two teams in the NorPac. On Sunday, the Lady Flames travel to College Park, Md., to face their final non-conference opponent of the season, the Georgetown Hoyas, at 4 p.m.

Live stats on Sunday will be provided courtesy of the Georgetown Sports Information department. Series History versus Longwood and Georgetown
Liberty evened the all-time series with the Lancers last week at 2-2 with a 4-2 victory in Farmville. The Lady Flames have now won the last two meetings between the two programs. Last season, Liberty defeated Georgetown, 4-1, at Liberty Field Hockey Field on Sept. 1 in the lone contest between the Lady Flames and the Hoyas.

Liberty at a Glance
The Lady Flames went a perfect three-for-three last week, jumping to first place in the NorPac. Liberty enters tomorrow's contest with a 9-4 overall record and an unblemished 4-0 mark in conference play. The Lady Flames picked up back-to-back conference road wins at Longwood, 4-2, and Radford, 2-1, before returning to the Hill City and routing Appalachian State, 9-1, on Sunday. Liberty is 4-1 at home this season and 5-3 in contests played away from Liberty Field Hockey Field.

Liberty ranks in the top 10 nationally and first in the conference in goals per game (3.54), points per game (9.38), scoring average (3.54) and scoring margin (2.23). The Lady Flames' offense is led by a pair of sophomores, Natalie Barr and Ashlee Krulock. Barr paces the squad with 30 points (11 goals, 8 assists), while Krulock ranks second on the squad with 21 tallies (10 goals, 1 assist). Hannah Jones and Serena Barr also have double-digit point totals this year with 15 and 12, respectively. Bethany Barr is second in assists behind sister Natalie Barr with five.

Defensively, Liberty goalkeeper Ann Jefferis has started 12 of the team's 13 contests this season. Jefferis has a 1.31 goals-against average and a .746 save percentage. As a team, the Lady Flames rank second in the NorPac and 13th nationally in goals-against average (1.31).

Sister Act
Natalie and Serena Barr earned the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, earlier this week. The sister duo combined to score seven goals and six assists during the Lady Flames' three games last week.

Longwood at a Glance
The Lancers dropped both of their matches last week, falling to 5-9 overall and 3-1 in league action. Longwood is 2-5 this season in contests played away from its home turf.

Stacey de Grandhomme is the team's leading scorer with nine goals, while Jennifer Burris and Jessica Diaz are tied for the team high in assists with four apiece. The Lancers are third in the league in scoring average at 1.89, but rank sixth in scoring margin at -1.12.

Kaye Goulding has played the majority of the minutes in the cage for Longwood. The senior is surrendering an average of 2.76 goals per game and has recorded 87 saves for a save percentage of .707.

Georgetown at a Glance
The Hoyas, losers of three straight, are 2-11 overall (0-4 BIG EAST). Georgetown will play No. 4 Connecticut on Friday before hosting the Lady Flames on Sunday. Both of the Hoyas victories this season have come at home.

Georgetown is averaging just one goal a game this year, while surrendering an average of 4.38 scores per contest. Sarah Butterfield is the team leader in goals with six, while Aliyah Graves paces the squad with three assists. In goal, Rosalie Nolen is allowing an average of 5.25 goals per game and has a save percentage of .671.

Looking Ahead
Liberty will make its final road trip of the season next weekend. The Lady Flames square off against Davidson on Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. and Appalachian State at noon on Oct. 27.
