The football program's annual bye week allowed the Liberty Flames Sports Network to step away from its traditional Monday game recap and look at other teams around the Big South.

The Flames open up Big South play against conference rival No. 6/4 Coastal Carolina on Saturday at Williams Stadium. The Chanticleers are one of two unbeaten teams in the Big South this year, as Coastal Carolina comes into the game with a perfect 6-0 record.

The other unbeaten Big South program is Charleston Southern, who leads the league with a 7-0 record. The unblemished record has the Buccaneers in the polls for the first time since 2006. Charleston Southern is currently ranked No. 24 in the FCS Coaches poll.

Overall, the Big South posted a conference record 14 wins over FCS teams, including Gardner-Webb knocking off No. 11/15 Richmond (12-10) and No. 10/8 Wofford (3-0).

Five of the Flames' next six games are against Big South teams where Liberty will seek its fifth Big South title in the last six years and the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
