During the Flames' bye week, the Liberty Flames Sports Network had a chance to look back at the first half of Liberty's 2013 football season.

The Flames will enter Big South Conference play with an even 3-3 record. The Flames have won their three homes games by an average of 41.7 points per game and lost all three road contests by an average of 6.7 points per contest.

The Flames' offense is led by Josh Woodrum, who has thrown for 1,177 yards and eight touchdowns. Desmond Rice has led Liberty's rushing attack with 401 yards and six rushing touchdowns, while Darrin Peterson has matched Rice with 401 receiving yards to go along with his four touchdowns.

Liberty's defense currently ranks No. 6 in the country in scoring defense (16.7 points per game) and No. 27 in total defense (allowing 333.7 yards per game). The Flames' defensive leaders are seniors Scott Hyland (33 tackles) and Walt Aikens (32 tackles).

Liberty will open Big South play against Big South rival Coastal Carolina in its annual Homecoming football game next Saturday. The Chanticleers will come into the game with a perfect 6-0 record and Coastal Carolina is currently ranked No. 6 in the latest Sports Network poll and No. 8 in the latest FCS Coaches listing.
