Liberty juniors Jacy Christiansen and Josh MacDonald have been tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's and Men's Cross Country Runners of the Week for their performances at Saturday's Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational.

MacDonald is the second straight Flame to be named Big South Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, following Caleb Edmonds' honor on Sept. 25. MacDonald was previously recognized as Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Week on March 13, 2013, while this is the first career conference weekly award for Christiansen.

Christiansen finished 30th overall and first among Big South entrants on Saturday, in a field which featured 11 regionally ranked squads. She clocked a time of 17:58.2 on the undulating 5K course at Panorama Farms, marking her first-ever sub-18:00 cross country 5K.

MacDonald moved up through the men's field throughout the race, climbing from 33rd place at the two-mile mark to ninth place at the finish line of the 8K. The California native's time was a personal-best 23:59.3.

The next meet for Christiansen and MacDonald will be the ISU Pre-National Invitational, slated for Oct. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind. That day, the Flames and Lady Flames will square off against some of the nation's top teams at the site of the 2013 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.
