Weekly Football Press Conference: Old Dominion
Liberty Head Football Coach Turner Gill held his weekly press conference on Tuesday afternoon in the Donor Room of the Williams Football Operations Center.
During the event, Gill recapped Liberty's 73-7 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan, last Saturday, and then previewed the Flames' upcoming matchup with Old Dominion. The Commonwealth contest will be the Flames' final tune-up before Big South play starts on Oct. 19 against No. 9/6 Coastal Carolina.
Liberty's game against Old Dominion will be the Flames' first matchup against the Monarchs and the third first-time opponent on Liberty's 2013 schedule.
The game could feature plenty of scoring. Old Dominion is currently averaging 49.8 points per game (would rank No. 5 in the country if they were eligible for FBS rankings) and Liberty is scoring 37.4 points per game (ranks No. 19 among FCS programs in the country).
Last week, the two teams combined to score 139 points, with Liberty winning 73-7 over Kentucky Wesleyan and Old Dominion defeating Albany, 66-10.
Radio coverage for the game will be provided by the Liberty Flames Sports Network, while Cox Communications will provide television coverage (the broadcast will be available on the Liberty Channel). Kickoff for the game is set for 6:07 p.m.
