The Liberty women's soccer team begins Big South conference action, Wednesday, playing host to Charleston Southern. The Lady Flames (5-3, 0-0 Big South) are currently 2-1 at Osborne Stadium, this season, and look to open the conference slate with a win for the third straight season. Standing in their way are the Buccaneers, who own a 12-8-3 advantage in the all-time series.

Last year, Charleston Southern defended its home turf against the Lady Flames, defeating Liberty, 3-2 (Sept. 29, 2012). Forward Toni Lashley was instrumental in leading the Buccaneers to victory, posting two goals in the contest. Match time for the 24th installment in the series is set for 3 p.m.

A Look at Liberty
Head coach Jessica Hain's squad stepped onto Elon's Rudd Field, Friday afternoon, looking to get back into the win column. Unfortunately for the Lady Flames, the Elon Phoenix had other plans, defeating the visitors, 2-0.
With the defeat, Liberty fell to 5-3 on the season, after dropping back-to-back contests for the first time this season. During the contest, goalkeeper Holly Van Noord gave up a goal for the first time during the opening 90 minutes this season, ending her scoreless span in regulation at 670 minutes.

According to the latest NCAA statistical rankings, Van Noord is 18th in the country in save percentage (.895) and 25th in goals-against average (.483). As a team, Liberty is 12th in save percentage, 17th in goals-against average and 19th in shutout percentage.

Alanna Dunkle leads the Lady Flames in total points with nine and is tied for second in the Big South with three assists. Along with Dunkle, forwards Crystal Elmers and Megan Warner have scored two goals apiece, this season, while Delagatti, Boone, Aanderud and Swentik each have one.

Charleston Southern at a Glance
CSU enters the matchup on a bit of a skid, having taken a loss in three of its past four contests, while battling Georgia Southern to a 0-0 tie in the midst of the stretch. Charleston Southern opened up the 2013 season with wins in three of its first four games and currently sits with a 3-4-1 record overall.

Lashley, reprising her role from last season, continues to pace the Buccaneers offense, leading Charleston Southern with four goals, while sophomores Chelsea Frankeny and Chelsea Phillips are right behind with three goals apiece.

Freshman goalkeeper Dana McLaughlin leads the Buccaneers defense on the season, seeing action in seven of the Bucs' eight games. The netminder is currently 17th among the NCAA leaders with seven saves per game and is allowing 1.50 goals per contest.
