McQuitery Named to WVU All-Tournament Team
Liberty freshman middle blocker Nzea McQuitery has been named to the WVU Gold & Blue Players Challenge All-Tournament team, announced at the conclusion of the event on Sunday.
McQuitery, a native of Raleigh, N.C., tied for the team lead with 16 kills over the span of two matches at WVU Coliseum this weekend. She led Liberty with a .293 attack percentage at the tournament, and added five total blocks.
On Friday, McQuitery recorded five kills to tie for the team high and added two blocks in a 3-0 setback to the host West Virginia Mountaineers. She then recorded a career-high-tying 11 kills at a .296 pace during a 3-1 setback to UMBC. McQuitery also assisted on three of Liberty's 10 blocks against the Retrievers.
McQuitery is the fourth different Lady Flame to be named to an all-tournament team this season, joining junior Gabrielle Shipe (at Northern Illinois), senior Jade Craycraft (at Kentucky) and redshirt senior Kendle Rollins (at Duke).
The Lady Flames (1-11) return to the Commonwealth of Virginia, where they will open Big South Conference play at Radford on Friday at 7 p.m. Liberty is 17-5 all-time in conference openers, and has won each of its last eight Big South lid-lifters in a row.
