Series with Richmond:
• First meeting in the series
• Richmond is the second of four first-time opponents on Liberty's 2013 football schedule
• The Flames have already faced Monmouth, defeating the Hawks, 45-15, on Sept. 7 at home in their first-ever meeting with the future Big South Conference associate member
• Liberty will also face Old Dominion (Oct. 5) and Brevard (Nov. 16) for the first time in program history this season

Flames Against the CAA:
• Liberty holds a combined 15-27 record against current programs in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)
• The Flames have previously faced current CAA members Maine (0-1), William & Mary (0-4), Villanova (1-3), Stony Brook (3-2), James Madison (5-12) and Towson (6-5)
• Liberty has never squared off against current CAA members Albany, Delaware, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Richmond
• Liberty's last victory over a current CAA program was on Nov. 10, 2012, when the Flames defeated their first-ever Top 10 opponent with a 28-14 victory over No. 6/8 Stony Brook in Lynchburg (Stony Brook's final game as an associate member of the Big South Conference)

Familiar Faces:
• When the Flames face the Spiders on Saturday, Liberty will see some familiar faces on the Richmond sidelines, starting with Spiders' head coach Danny Rocco
• Rocco spent six years as Liberty's head football coach (2006-11), guiding the Flames to a 47-20 record and four Big South titles (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010)
• The following current Rocco assistant coaches also spent time as coaches at Liberty: Levern Belin (DL – 2009-11), Blaine McCorkle (OL – 2005, 2009-11), Manny Rojas (LB – 2010-11) and Brandon Streeter (QB/Off. Coord – 2006-11)
• Rojas also played his final two seasons of collegiate football for Rocco at Liberty with the two-time All-Big South linebacker finishing his career with 348 career tackles.

Versus Ranked Opponents:
• Liberty is 12-46 all-time against nationally ranked teams
• Liberty snapped a seven-game losing streak against nationally ranked teams, defeating No. 6/8 Stony Brook, 28-14, last year at home on Nov. 10
• The win marked the first time Liberty had defeated a nationally ranked team under head coach Turner Gill and the program's first-ever victory over a Top 10 team
• Liberty is 1-3 all-time in games against ranked opponents under head coach Turner Gill
• The game against Richmond will mark the fourth nationally ranked team Liberty has faced under head coach Turner Gill in nine non-conference games (last year, Liberty faced No. 24 Norfolk State, No. 14/12 Montana and No. 16/13 Lehigh)
