Flames to Compete in SIC This Weekend

2013 SIC Schedule of Play

The Liberty Flames men's tennis squad continues its fall tournament schedule with a trip to Athens, Ga., and an appearance in the prestigious Southern Intercollegiate Championships (SIC). The nation's oldest fall collegiate tournament features players from some of the top tennis programs in the country, including Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Clemson.

The tournament gets underway tomorrow morning at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex and will conclude on Monday. Play begins in earnest at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning with matches in the Division II singles bracket.

Carson Greve will be the first to take to the court for the Flames, squaring off against Rodrigo Encjas of College of Charleston at 8 a.m. Also competing in the Division II bracket will be Dillon Segur and Jorge Azuero. Segur opens against Evgeny Silitski of Georgia Gwinnett at 9 a.m., while Azuero faces Alabama's Stuart Kenyon at 10:30 a.m.

In the Division III singles bracket, Liberty's Alejandro Llamas challenges Rafael Racy of Georgia Southern at 8:30 a.m. Egon Samaai continues play for the Flames in the Division III draw with a contest against Georgia Tech's Colin Edwards at 9:30 a.m. A pair of Flames, Stan Vaughan and Guillem Secanell, received byes for the first round and will play at 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.

Shea Thomas wraps up first round singles play, competing in the Division I bracket. The senior will face Reid deLaubenfels of Portland at 4 p.m.

In the Division I doubles bracket, Thomas and Azuero open play in the round of 32 against Clemson's Hunter Harrington and Daniel Strawn at 6 p.m. Also playing at 6 p.m will be Samaai and Segur. The Flames' duo will challenge Nico DeGroof and Albert Codina Sala of Georgia Southern in the Division II draw.

Greve and Secanell square off against Kent Andreasen and Justin Guay of Portland in the round of 32 at 7:30 pm. Vaughan and Llamas will also compete at 7:30 p.m., challenging Pen Binet and Suresh Eswaran of Vanderbilt in the round of 32 of the Division II bracket.
