Liberty women's soccer goalkeeper Holly Van Noord has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week for games played Sept. 2-8. The honor marks Van Noord's second the week, as she was also named Big South Defensive Player of the Week, Monday.

The redshirt freshman's weekend began with a 3-0 shutout win at Drexel, Friday night. Despite the Dragons outshooting the Lady Flames, 17-7, and firing six shots on goal, Van Noord thwarted every attempt, finishing the contest with six saves.

On Sunday, the netminder picked up two saves in another 3-0 shutout victory against Saint Joseph's. With the win, Van Noord picked up her fourth shutout of the season, helping Liberty improve to 4-1 for the first time in program history.

Van Noord and the Lady Flames remain on the road, Thursday, squaring off with UNCG. Liberty is seeking its first-ever win against the Spartans, as UNCG leads the all-time series, 5-0. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
According to the latest NCAA statistical rankings, Van Noord is No. 8 in the country in save percentage (.957) and No. 14 in goals-against average (.192).

Liberty returns to Osborne Stadium, Sunday, to host Marshall. The Lady Flames look to improve their home record to 3-0 when they take on The Herd. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
