For the second time in as many weeks, Liberty Lady Flames field hockey goalkeeper Ann Jefferis was awarded the NorPac's East Division Defensive Player of the Week honor, as announced today by the conference office. Jefferis becomes the first Lady Flame to earn more than one conference defensive player of the week award in a single season.

Jefferis continued her strong play in goal this season, surrendering only two goals in two games this past weekend in California. On Friday against UC Davis, Jefferis turned away seven shots and allowed just one goal, as Liberty defeated the Aggies, 2-1, in Berkeley. The Harlesyville, Pa., native followed up that performance by allowing just one goal, while making one save in the Lady Flames' narrow 1-0 defeat to the host California Golden Bears.

Through three games this season, Jefferis holds a 0.67 goals-against average and a .857 save percentage, while recording a total of 12 saves.

The Lady Flames return to the road this weekend with games at No. 18 Wake Forest on Friday and VCU on Sunday. The Wake Forest matchup is slated for 4:30 p.m., while the VCU contest is set for 2 p.m.
