The Liberty women's soccer team closed out its stay in the City of Brotherly Love on a positive note, defeating Saint Joseph's, 3-0, at Sweeney Field, Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Lady Flames extended their streak to four games, improving to 4-1 on the year. Saint Joseph's falls to 3-1-2 in 2013. Liberty has now posted three goals in each of the last four games after besting Drexel (3-0), Friday night. Liberty is now off to a 4-1 start for the first time in program history.

Three different Lady Flames lit up the scoreboard on Sunday, with Maddie Boone, Brittany Aandeurd and Geena Swentik contributing to Liberty's hat trick of goals.

For the third straight contest, Liberty found the back of the net in the opening 15 minutes. Standing at the top of the 18-yard box, Boone blasted a shot from the left side into the upper right corner. The junior's maker, which was her first of the season and third in her Liberty career, gave Liberty an early 1-0 advantage in the 10th minute.

Just over 40 seconds after Boone's goal, Saint Joseph's attempted the equalizer, but goalkeeper Holly Van Noord stuffed the shot by Shannon Farrell. In the remaining minutes of the period, Liberty fired upon the Hawks' goal on two occasions. However, Saint Joseph's netminder Lauren Jancuska was there to thwart shots from Alanna Dunkle and Bertha Martinez, respectively.

Midfielder Rebecca Smith close the period for the Lady Flames with a shot in the 45th minute. Smith's attempt sailed high over the Hawks net, keeping the score, 1-0, at halftime.

In the second period, Aanderud added to Liberty's scoring in the 53rd minute. Following a foul by Saint Joseph's, the sophomore set up for a free kick, sending the ball from the top of the box to the upper left corner. Aanderud's first goal of the season extended the Lady Flames' lead to 2-0. The midfielder's marker was the second of her collegiate career and first since a 5-1 win over Presbyterian College on Sept. 20, 2012.

Swenitk capped off the Lady Flames trio of goals just before the 64th minute. The forward airmailed the ball to the middle of the goal, banking it off the crossbar and down into the goal, cementing the 3-0 final. With the marker, Swenitk scored her first goal of the season and seventh of her Liberty career. Swentik's seven career goals tie her with teammate and fellow junior Helena Pereira for the most by a player on the current Lady Flames roster.

Liberty outshot Saint Joseph's on the afternoon, 14-8, while the Hawks held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Van Noord posted her fourth shutout of the season, finishing the game with two saves. Jancuska closed out the contest with three saves for Saint Joseph's.

The Lady Flames remain on the road, Thursday, squaring off with UNCG. Liberty is seeking its first-ever win against the Spartans, as UNCG leads the all-time series, 5-0. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
