A Look at Liberty
Liberty posted two wins this past weekend, earning victories over Old Dominion and American. On Friday, the Lady Flames bested the Lady Monarchs, 2-0, with goals from Megan Warner and Crystal Elmers. Alanna Dunkle chipped in both assists. Liberty's win over the Monarchs marked its first win in a home opener since defeating Charleston Southern, 7-0, on Sept. 16, 2006.
Two days later, Warner and Elmers each found the net again in a 2-0 win over American. Dunkle picked up her team-leading third assist of the season, finding an open Warner in the 11th minute. Warner and freshman Juila Delgatti were credited with the helper on Elmers goal in the 82nd minute.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Holly VanNoord has played all three games in between the posts for Liberty. The Hudsonville, Mich., native has two shutouts and 14 saves on the year. The netminder has only allowed one goal (0.31 goals-against average) in approximately 288 total minutes of action.
Drexel at a Glance
Drexel looks to continue their unbeaten streak at Vidas Field, Friday. The Dragons are 12-0-5 at home since the 2011 season, with their last home loss coming against Delaware on October 30, 2010. Drexel is coming off a 3-0 win at UMBC on Sunday in which freshman Shyanne Kimbrough scored a pair of goals to help the Dragons improve to 2-1-1. This performance along with her game-tying goal at home against Villanova, last Friday, earned her CAA Rookie of the Week honors. Kimbrough leads the Drexel offense with three goals
Prior to the win over UMBC, the Dragons opened the season with a 1-0 defeat to Rutgers before following up with a 2-1 win over Marist and 1-1 tie versus Villanova.
Goalkeeper Eve Badana enters the contest having played in goal all four contests for the Dragons. She currently has 13 saves (.813) and has allowed three goals (0.68 gaa) on the year.
Sneak Peek at Saint Joseph's
Before Liberty's meeting with Saint Joseph's, the Hawks will host Big South member Longwood, Friday. After beginning the season with a 1-0 win at LIU Brooklyn, Saint Joseph's followed up with a pair of scoreless ties versus Hartford and UMBC. On Sunday, the Hawks picked up a 3-2 victory over Quinnipiac to move to 2-0-2 on the year.
