As the Liberty field hockey teams continues to prepare for its season opener on Friday, Nick Pierce had a chance to talk with head coach Jodi Murphy as well sophomore midfielder Natalie Barr and senior goalkeeper Ann Jefferis

The interviews provide insight into the Lady Flames' mentality heading into the season, along with their goals and expectations for the 2013 campaign.

Liberty returns all but one starter from last season's squad, which finished with an overall record of 16-6. The Lady Flames captured the NorPac East Division title in just their first year of competition in the league. Liberty rode an eight-game winning streak into the NorPac title game, but fell just short, losing to No. 13 Stanford.

Liberty's season and home opener is scheduled for Friday afternoon versus the Saint Joseph's Hawks. The game is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at Liberty Field Hockey Field.
