Two-time defending Big South volleyball champion Liberty opened its 2013 preseason practice schedule yesterday. Following the first practice, Nick Pierce caught up with head coach Shane Pinder, along with the Lady Flames' returning all-conference players Jade Craycraft, Caroline Douglas and Lillie Happel.

The interviews provide insight into the Lady Flames' preseason training, along with their goals and expectations for the 2013 campaign.

The Lady Flames have been voted to win the conference title, in the Big South preseason coaches' poll. Last season, Liberty went 25-8, including 12-2 in Big South play, to win its sixth straight regular-season conference title. The Lady Flames have won 20 or more matches for six seasons in a row, and won their conference-record seventh Big South tournament championship on the way to a berth in the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.

The Lady Flames will be in action during the annual Blue-White Scrimmage, which takes place on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Vines Center. They open the regular-season in DeKalb, Ill., against Ohio State on Aug. 30.
