Liberty Releases 2013 Football Television Schedule
2013 Football Schedule
Six games on the new Liberty Flames Sports Network, along with four ESPN3 broadcasts and one by Cox Communications make up Liberty's current 2013 football television schedule.
The new Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) will cover six of Liberty's seven home games, while the remaining home game (Oct. 19 vs. Coastal Carolina) will be broadcast as an ESPN3 exclusive broadcast through the Big South Conference.
Flames Nation can follow Liberty athletics on the Liberty Channel (WTLU), the flagship television station of the Liberty Flames Sports Network. LFSN airs Liberty football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball games, as well as Liberty volleyball matches. The Liberty Channel can be viewed in the greater Lynchburg area on most cable systems.
Liberty athletics will also be broadcast over the air on WRTN RTV, the digital broadcast channel 13.2 programmed by the local ABC Network Affiliate WSET. The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) also broadcast Liberty football, representing 15 million additional households in the mid-Atlantic region to give Liberty Athletics one of the top FCS television networks in the country.
Additionally, LFSN broadcasts have also been aired in the past year on ESPN3, CTN-Florida, JCTV, and WFMZ (Philadelphia, Pa.).
Mike Tilley and Ray Jones return to the LFSN broadcasting booth, handing play-by-play and color commentator duties, respectively. Tilley and Jones will be joined by Erin McKeown, D.J. Jordan and Paul Rutigliano, to break down the contests during the network's pregame, halftime and postgame shows.
Beside the Coastal Carolina game on Oct. 19, ESPN3 will provide three additional exclusive broadcasts of Liberty's games, with the additional three all coming on the road.
The first will be Aug. 29 when Liberty opens the season on the road at Kent State, an ESPN3 exclusive broadcast as part of the Mid-American Conference television package.
The Big South Conference will also provide two additional ESPN3 exclusive broadcasts as part of the conference's "Game of the Week" coverage. Liberty's games in the ESPN3 broadcast slate are Flames' road games at Gardner-Webb on Oct. 26 and the regular-season finale at Charleston Southern on Nov. 23.
Liberty's final game currently on the television broadcast schedule is the Flames' road game against fellow Commonwealth opponent Old Dominion on Oct. 5. Liberty's final tune-up before beginning Big South play will originate from Cox Communications in Hampton Roads, Va., and will be made available locally in the Lynchburg market on the Liberty Channel.
