Jess Reinhardt placed 35th in 100-meter butterfly qualifying during day three of the U.S. Open.

Jess Reinhardt of the Liberty swimming team, competing in 100-meter butterfly qualifying on Thursday at the U.S. Open, swam 1:01.52 to place 35th overall.

Reinhardt, a rising sophomore from Gatton, Queensland, Australia, is the third Liberty swimmer to compete this week. Emilie Kaufman (200 breaststroke) and Emily Duff (200 backstroke) completed qualifying heats yesterday.

Swimming in the third of 10 heats of the 100 fly, Reinhardt swam 1:01.52, good for the third fastest time in her qualifying heat. She placed 35th overall out of 73 swimmers, finishing in the top half among all competitors.

Reinhardt, the 2013 CCSA Women's Freshman of the Meet, swam 52.87 in the 100-yard fly at the Ohio State Last Chance Meet, providing her U.S. Open seeding.

Duff contested a 200-meter freestyle time trial in between Thursday's sessions, swimming a lifetime-best 2:07.96.
Reinhardt and Duff will likely both swim on the Lady Flames' 400-meter medley relay, tomorrow evening.

Liberty will have as many as five swimmers competing tomorrow, beginning with Kaufman and Laura Day in the 100-meter breaststroke. During Friday's evening session, Liberty's 400-meter medley relay will compete in a timed final.
