Liberty XC Set for Commonwealth-Heavy 2013 Slate
View Liberty's 2013 cross country schedule
Liberty's defending Big South champion men's and women's cross country teams will stay close to home for much of the 2013 season, with five meets slated for Virginia venues.
In fact, the Flames and Lady Flames are only scheduled to race at three different courses in 2013, including Panorama Farms (Earlysville, Va.), The Vista Links Golf Course (Buena Vista, Va.) and the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course (Terre Haute, Ind.).
Liberty will travel to Virginia's Panorama Farms course for two of its first three meets, including the season-opening UVa Duals on Aug. 30 and the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 28.
Those two meets sandwich the Sept. 21 VMI Invitational, which will enable the Flames and Lady Flames to preview the 2013 Big South Championship course at The Vista Links Golf Course in nearby Buena Vista.
After taking three weekends off from competition, Liberty will square off against some of the nation's top teams on Oct. 19, when the Flames and Lady Flames travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the ISU Pre-National Invitational.
VMI will play host to the Big South Cross Country Championships for the first time since 2005, Nov. 2 at The Vista Links Golf Course. The Liberty men's squad will seek its unprecedented ninth straight Big South title, while the Lady Flames will aim to defend their 2012 conference championship.
The NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships will be hosted by Virginia at Panorama Farms for the first time. The Nov. 15 event will determine the qualifiers for the 2013 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.
For the ninth time in the last 10 years, the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will be contested in Terre Haute, Ind. The meet is slated for Nov. 23 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
