Doolittle Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team
Liberty field hockey sophomore Helen Doolittle has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District III At-Large Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), today. Doolittle becomes the first ever Liberty female student-athlete to earn academic all-district at-large honors.
As a result of her inclusion on the academic all-district team, Doolittle will now appear on the ballot for the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I At-Large Team.
A native of Lancaster, Pa., Doolittle holds a 4.0 grade-point average as an interdisciplinary studies major, with a concentration in business, adventure leadership and outdoor ministry and global studies. Doolitte has compiled an impressive list of academic honors during her brief career. The sophomore was tabbed to the NFHCA National Academic squad in 2011 and 2012. Aditionally, Doolittle was named a NFHCA Scholar of Distinction in 2012 and was tabbed to the NorPac All-Academic team this past season.
On the field, Doolittle started and played in each of the Lady Flames' 22 games in 2012. Doolittle was a key contributer on both the offensive and defensive sides of the field for head coach Jodi Murphy. The defender helped Liberty finish first in the NorPac in goals allowed and goals allowed per game and second in shutouts with five. Offensively, Doolittle tallied four goals and three assists, including a pair of game-winning tallies.
