Liberty Swimming Head Coach Jake Shellenberger, along with assistant coach Jessica Barnes, have announced the addition of Natalie Chambers and Kristin VanDeventer to the Lady Flames' swimming program.

Liberty Swimming Head Coach Jake Shellenberger has announced the addition of two student-athletes to the Lady Flames' swimming program. Natalie Chambers and Kristin VanDeventer will join Liberty's swimming team and begin competing for the Lady Flames during the 2013-14 school year.

VanDeventer came to Liberty as a mid-year transfer after beginning her freshman year at Virginia. Natalie Chambers, a high school senior from The Woodlands, Texas, will join her older sister, Mallorie, on the Liberty swimming team next year.

Chambers and VanDeventer are the latest additions to a talented 2013 recruiting class, as Heather McCorkel, Morgan Noonan and Victoria Tschoke all signed national letters of intent during the fall.

Quote from Chambers: "I chose Liberty because I felt like it was the school that God led me to attend. Because my sister goes to Liberty I knew I would like it there, but when I took my trip, I loved it more than I could have imagined. I fell in love with the team, the coaches, and the gorgeous campus. I fell in love with it mostly because everywhere I looked I could tell God was present. That atmosphere was amazing and I can't wait to spend my next four years representing the Lord and Liberty with my talent."
Quote from Shellenberger: "Having the pleasure to currently coach Natalie's older sister Mallorie, we know that having another Chambers in our program will add a positive to the culture Coach Jessica Barnes and I have been building here at Liberty over the past three years.  Natalie is a tremendous fit for LU, and comes into our conference scoring top eight in the 200 backstroke.  Having learned the fundamentals at one of the best club programs in the U.S. at The Woodlands, we feel Natalie will improve greatly at the next level and we are excited for her to join the Liberty family."

Quote from VanDeventer: "I am so excited to represent this great university. One of the many things I love about Liberty is that I can achieve my swimming goals here but my spiritual life is also a top priority. I am excited to learn and swim for such passionate coaches and teammates. Even though I took the roundabout way, I know this is exactly where God has led me and I couldn't be more excited about the future."
Quote from Shellenberger: "We are thrilled to have Kristin here at Liberty, and she will help tremendously with our middle/distance freestyle events. She joins the team scoring top eight in our conference in both the 200 and 500 freestyles, and I believe she can score top eight in the mile as well.  Kristin works extremely hard and will fit in well with not only the culture of our swimming program, but she is a great fit for Liberty as well.  Indiana is known for its great high school and club swimming, and we are happy to continue the trend of Liberty swimmers from the Hoosier State."
