Pitcher Trey Lambert has been named the Big South Pitcher of the Week

Liberty pitcher Trey Lambert has been named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played April 15-21, the conference announced today.

Lambert, a junior from Tazewell, Va. struck out nine Winthrop hitters, en route to a complete game, 3-1 win over the Eagles, yesterday. After allowing a run in the first inning, Lambert pitched eight scoreless innings. With the win, the right-hander moves to 6-3 on the year. He leads the Flames in both wins and innings pitched (61.2).

Lambert allowed the Eagles six hits, a .188 average at the plate and walked just one batter, Sunday. The performance was his second consecutive complete game and third of the season for the right-hander. The honor marks his first Pitcher of the Week plaudit of his career.

Lambert and the Flames begin a five-game road swing, tomorrow.  Liberty will travel to College Park, Md., for a non-conference meeting with the Maryland Terrapins.  First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.
