As the Liberty Lady Flames tennis team makes preparations for the Big South Women's Tennis Championship at Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C., Nick Pierce had a chance to catch up with head coach Jeff Maren. During the interview, Maren recaps the season to date and gives his thoughts on the team heading into the championship.

Liberty enters the championship as the No. 4 seed and will square off against fifth seeded Coastal Carolina tomorrow at 10 a.m. The Lady Flames and the Chanticleers also met in the quarterfinals of the 2012 conference championship, with Coastal Carolina earning a 4-0 victory. Earlier this season, the Liberty routed the Chanticleers, 6-1, at the Hershey Tennis Courts.

If the Lady Flames advance past Coastal Carolina, they will meet the winner of match No. 3, which features No. 1 seed Winthrop against either No. 8 Gardner-Webb or No. 9 Longwood. Liberty knocked off both the Runnin' Bulldogs and the Lancers by identical 4-3 scores during the regular season. Against Winthrop on March 22, the Lady Flames were blanked by the Eagles, 7-0.
