As the Liberty Flames tennis team makes preparations for the Big South Men's Tennis Championship, which begins this afternoon at Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C., Alan York had a chance to catch up with head coach Chris Johnson. During the interview, Johnson recaps the season to date and provides a breakdown of the Flames' lineup heading into the championship.

While the championship opens today, Liberty does not play until tomorrow afternoon. The No. 7 seeded Flames will square off against No. 2 seed Campbell, beginning no later than 12:30 p.m. Earlier this season at the Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts, the Flames rallied from a 3-1 deficit, but Campbell clinched the match, 4-3, when Josep Baro outlasted Liberty's Egon Samaai in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

If the Flames are able to defeat the Camels, they will meet the winner of No. 3 Presbyterian Collge versus No. 6 Gardner-Webb in the semifinals on Friday at 2 p.m. During the regular season, the Flames fell on the road to the Runnin' Bulldogs, 6-1, before downing the Blue Hose at home, 4-3.
