Samm Shivock has received her first career Big South Player of the Week award.

Liberty junior Sammi Shivock has been named Big South Conference Choice Hotels Softball Player of the Week, as announced today.

Shivock collects her first career Player of the Week accolade. She is the second Lady Flame to be honored by the conference this season, as Hanna Nichols earned the award on March 25. This is the first year since 2011 that multiple Lady Flames have been named Big South Softball Player of the Week during the same season.

A native of New Castle, Del., Shivock batted 7-for-13 (.538) with two doubles, one home run, seven RBIs and three runs scored in four games played. For the week, she posted a .533 on-base percentage and a .923 slugging percentage.

Shivock played a pivotal role during Liberty's series victory against Gardner-Webb, hitting .667 (6-for-9) with two doubles, one home run, two runs scored and six RBIs versus the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Last Monday, Shivock went 1-for-4 with an RBI during an 8-7 win over Longwood. She batted 2-for-4 with two RBIs in Friday's first game against Gardner-Webb, before driving in one run in the nightcap. On Saturday, she hit 3-for-3, recording a double and a three-run homer, as Liberty won, 13-5.

The Lady Flames (19-21, 8-8) open a busy week today, when they host Longwood for a Big South doubleheader, beginning at 5 p.m. Liberty then travels to Harrisonburg, Va., to face James Madison on Wednesday at 5 p.m., before heading to Rock Hill, S.C., for a weekend conference series at Winthrop, Friday and Saturday.
