Liberty Finishes No. 16 in Mid-Major Top 25

The Liberty women's basketball team finished the 2012-13 season ranked No. 16 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.

After going 27-7 and making its 15th NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship appearance, the Liberty women's basketball team is ranked No. 16 in the final CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll of the 2012-13 season.

This is the second straight season Liberty has been listed in the Mid-Major Top 25 year-end poll, after earning a No. 20 ranking in 2011-12.

Delaware was a unanimous choice at No. 1, after going 32-4 and reaching the NCAA Sweet 16. Green Bay, Gonzaga, Creighton and Princeton rounded out the top five.

The women's Mid-Major Top 25, in its third year of existence, is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conferences.

The Lady Flames went 16-2 in conference play, winning their 14th Big South regular-season title and equaling the conference record for victories. Liberty then captured its 15th Big South Championship crown in the last 17 years with tournament victories over Gardner-Webb, Campbell and Longwood.
