Siim Tuus notched a win in singles play for Liberty against Coastal Carolina on Sunday afternoon at the Hershey Tennis Courts.

The Liberty Flames wrapped up the Big South Conference portion of their schedule on Sunday afternoon, falling to conference leader Coastal Carolina, 5-2, at the Hershey Tennis Courts.

Liberty's record drops to 10-9 (3-5 Big South) overall on the season, while Coastal Carolina improves to 11-5 overall and remains undefeated in Big South matches, at 7-0.

The Flames began the afternoon by winning the doubles point, courtesy of wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Dillon Segur and Jorge Azuero collected an 8-6 victory against John Karle and Leo Christofides for their 11th win on the year as a tandem. Liberty's Shea Thomas and Egon Samaai followed with their 13th victory of the spring, downing Matias Di Pasquale and Garik Yedigarian, 8-5. The Flames nearly completed the doubles sweep as Siim Tuus and Guillem Secanell were narrowly defeated by Ted Nilsson and Yusuke Kusuda, 8-6.

Tuus notched Liberty's lone singles point of the afternoon by dropping Christofides in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. It was the first match of the season for the Flames' senior in the No. 2 position.

In the No. 1 and No. 4 spots, Liberty forced the Chanticleers to three sets, but was not able to pull out wins. Nilsson beat Segur, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, before Kusuda rallied from a one-set deficit to knock off Thomas, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Azuero fell to Yedigarian, 6-0, 6-3, in his first match of the season in the No. 3 position. Di Pasquale slid past Samaai, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 5 spot, while No. 6 player Hunter Whalen fought off Secanell, 7-6, 6-3.

"We played some great doubles today," said Liberty assistant coach Ryan Fitzwilliam. "We put forth some good resistance during singles play, but Coastal managed to edge us at the end. We need a combination of intensity and heart against James Madison on Wednesday if we want to take the match."

The Flames will play their final home contest of the season on Wednesday against Commonwealth opponent James Madison. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at the Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts.
