Kassidy McCoy had a two-hit game against Charleston Southern on Saturday.

Charleston Southern posted an 11-0, five-inning victory over the visiting Liberty Lady Flames during game two on Saturday at CSU Softball Field, earning a doubleheader sweep in the process.

Liberty falls to 15-18, with a 4-7 record in Big South games, while the Buccaneers improve their record to 9-32, including 2-11 during conference play. CSU outhit the Lady Flames, 9-4, during game two.

Liberty's Jill Stephens and Kassidy McCoy registered two hits apiece, with Stephens hitting her first triple of the campaign.

A total of four Buccaneers had two hits each. Linzy Rother homered and drove in four runs, while Marci Christian hit a homer and scored three runs, and Jana Matthews recorded three RBIs.

Jennifer Giles (5-22) posted her second victory on the day, yielding three hits in three innings pitched before Linzy Rother allowed one hit in the final two frames.

Annah Jo Brittingham drew the loss after giving up four runs on five hits in the first inning. Kenzie Friesen pitched 2/3 of an inning, before Chandler Ball finished the game.

Stephens hit a one-out triple during the top of the first inning, but CSU kept Liberty off the board on a pair of groundouts.

Christian led off the bottom of the first with her team-best 11th homer. After a single by Matthews, Rother made it 3-0, CSU, with a two-run homer.

After a leadoff single by Natalie Yonan in the second, Friesen came on in relief of Brittingham. With two outs and the bases loaded, a Friesen wild pitch pushed one run across, and then Rother plated two runs on a single up the middle. Hayes Holdsworth pushed CSU's edge to 8-0 with a two-RBI single off of Ball.

A bases-loaded triple by Matthews in the bottom of the third provided the remaining three tallies for the host Buccaneers.

Liberty got a leadoff single from McCoy during the top of the fifth, but Charleston Southern turned a 1-4-3 double play to quell the rally. Holly Seiz reached on a fielding error with two outs, and Rother got Zavodny to hit into a fielder's choice for the final out.

The Lady Flames and Buccaneers wrap up their weekend conference series with a single game tomorrow. First pitch for the contest is set for 1 p.m. at CSU Softball Field.
