Q&A With Nicola Wellman
Under the direction of first year head coach Jeff Maren, the Liberty women's tennis team is having a strong season, posting a 10-7 (6-2 Big South) record overall. Throughout the 2013 season, LibertyFlames.com will provide a look at each of the Lady Flames' players.
Sophomore Nicola Wellman has emerged as one of Liberty's strongest players so far during the 2013 season. Wellman has a team-best 11-4 singles record, including a 7-1 mark in Big South Conference matches. The Spring Hill, Fla., native has been a versatile player for Coach Maren, earning starts in the No. 3, 4 and 5 positions. In doubles play, Wellman teams with Rebekah Jenkins to form the Lady Flames' No. 1 tandem, notching six victories on the year.
From the Head Coach: "Nicola's commitment to improving her conditioning and mental strength has paid off as she is now playing at a very high level. She contributes to the team's success in both singles and doubles, but also helps to lead the team with her strong work ethic and determination to be the best that she can be. We are blessed to have her in our program!"
