Liberty junior Rebekah Jenkins has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced today by the conference. Jenkins earns recognition for her performances in matches played between March 25-31.

It is the third Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week award for the Lady Flames in 2013, as Brittany Yang and Nicola Wellman each earned the honor earlier in the season on Jan. 29 and Feb. 26, respectively.

Jenkins won each of her singles and doubles matches last week, helping lead the Lady Flames to victories against Radford and Presbyterian College. In singles play, Jenkins ousted Radford's Gemma Valls, 6-4, 7-5 on Wednesday, before defeating Greer Ransom of Presbyterian College in convincing fashion, 6-1, 6-2.

In the No. 1 doubles position, Jenkins, along with partner Wellman, collected a win against the Highlanders' Valls and Hana Babic, 8-7 (9-7). The following day, Jenkins and Wellman knocked off the Blue Hose combination of Ransom and Lindsay Krause, 8-2.

The Sarasota, Fla. native currently ranks second on the team with eight singles wins on the year, with six of those victories coming in the No. 2 spot. Jenkins and Wellman have notched six wins overall as the Lady Flames' No. 1 doubles tandem.

After this afternoon's contest at James Madison, Jenkins and the rest of the Lady Flames return to Liberty Mountain for a pair of weekend matchups, beginning on Friday against Charleston Southern at 1 p.m.
