Kacie Fogle notched four goals on Monday against Campbell.

Kacie Fogle scored four goals and the Liberty Lady Flames withstood a second-half comeback attempt from the Campbell Camels to win their first Big South game of the year, 8-6, on Monday afternoon at Liberty Lacrosse Field.

The victory snaps Liberty's four-game losing streak and improves its record to 5-6 (1-1 Big South) on the year. With the loss, Campbell falls to 5-4 (0-3 Big South) overall.

Fogle provided the fireworks early on for the Lady Flames, scoring all four of her goals in the opening 18:59 of the first half. Fogle's first goal of the contest came with 8:33 elapsed in the opening frame to put Liberty ahead, 1-0.

After the Camels' Cloey Henchcliffe knotted the game at one just over a minute later, Fogle reeled off three consecutive scores to increase Liberty's advantage to 4-1 with 11:01 remaining in the first half. During Fogle's three-goal run, a trio of Lady Flames, Kallie Britton, Jen Moyer and Nina Dunay, notched an assist each.

With just over seven minutes left in the opening stanza, Liberty's leading scorer, Morgan Becker, worked herself free inside the Camels' arc and fired an unassisted goal into the back of the net. The sophmore's first of two tallies on the day upped the home team's lead to 5-1, heading into the break.

The first score of the second half belonged to Henchcliffe at the 26:51 mark to pull Campbell within three, at 5-2.

The Lady Flames responded with a pair of quick strikes, beginning with Amber Nichols' eighth goal of the year with just over five minutes expired in the final half. Becker tallied her second marker of the contest a mere 46 seconds later to push Liberty's edge to 7-2. Becker's two-score game increases her team-high total to 19 on the season.

Campbell clawed its way back into the game by going on a 4-0 run, which was capped by Erica Hitch's third goal of the game with 6:26 left in the match.

On the ensuing draw, the Camels' Kaki Armiger secured possession for the visitors. Campbell worked its way into the Liberty arc and Loren Day whipped the potential game-tying shot toward the net. Lady Flames' goalie Kristen Masullo knocked the ball out of the air to preserve Liberty's 7-6 advantage.

The Lady Flames played keep-away for the remaining 5:01 of the game, before Moyer tallied her first goal of the year with one second showing on the clock, giving Liberty the 8-6 victory.

For the game, Liberty held the edge in draw controls, 9-6, and caused turnovers, 4-3, while Campbell led in shots, 21-18, and ground balls 24-16. The Lady Flames were successful on 11-15 clear attempts compared to 13-17 for the Camels.

Masullo finished the contest with nine saves in between the pipes. Brittany Kincer tallied six stops in goal for Campbell.

Liberty continues its four-game homestand on Wednesday, when the Virginia Tech Hokies visit Lynchburg for a 4 p.m. contest. Fans attending the game will receive a free rally towel.
