Brittany Yang (pictured) and Jessie Boda earned their team-high 12th doubles win of the year on Thursday.

The Liberty Lady Flames tennis team collected its third consecutive Big South Conference victory on Thursday, blanking the visiting Presbyterian Blue Hose, 7-0, at the Hershey Tennis Courts.

"Today we beat a very well coached Presbyterian team," commented Liberty assistant coach Giancarlo Lemmi. "Our girls again showed that they are rising to the occasion. We'll keep working hard and finish the season strong, so that we can keep our momentum going into the Big South Championship."

Liberty has won seven out of its last nine contests to improve to two matches over .500, at 9-7, for the first time this season. The Lady Flames up their Big South record to 6-2, matching the most conference victories in a single season in program history. Presbyterian falls to 7-10 (0-4 Big South).

Liberty jumped out quickly in doubles play with 8-2 victories in both the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Rebekah Jenkins and Nicola Wellman collected the first win of the afternoon, defeating Greer Ransom and Lindsay Krause. Cameron Richard and Valerie Thong quickly followed, clinching the doubles point for the Lady Flames with a victory over Kayla Stanford and Caroline deLoach.

In the No. 2 doubles spot, Liberty's Brittany Yang and Jessie Boda improved to 7-1 in Big South matches with a come from behind 8-7 (7-4) win against Courtney Gardiner and Haley Elliot.

The Lady Flames continued their strong play in singles action, sweeping each of the six matches and winning five of the contests in straight sets. Thong improved to 8-3 on the season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Gardiner. Jenkins matched Thong's eight singles victories with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Greer in the No. 1 position.

Annisha Domenech dropped only one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 rout of Stanford in the No. 6 spot. Yang quickly followed with the clinching win for Liberty. The sophomore ousted Krause, 6-3, 6-1, to improve to 2-0 on the year in the No. 5 position.

Richard and Wellman completed the sweep for the Lady Flames with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. After dropping the first set, Richard rebounded to knock off deLoach, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4). Wellman downed Alves 6-3, 6-3 to become the first Lady Flame to reach 10 singles wins this season.

The Lady Flames will take the weekend off, before traveling up to Harrisonburg, Va. to face the James Madison Dukes on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
