Williams Notches ECAC Qualifier in Hammer

Jocelyn Williams has now qualified for the ECAC meet in two events (discus and hammer).

Liberty junior Jocelyn Williams unleashed a personal-best and ECAC-qualifying hammer throw of 171-2, marking the Lady Flames' top Friday performance at the Shamrock Invitational.

Women's Meet Recap
Williams' 171-2 heave came on her sixth and final attempt of the competition, moving her into sixth place in the Amber Campbell Invitational section of the women's hammer.

Senior Khristina Kanagy made a strong outdoor seasonal debut, placing fifth in the 5K behind a quartet of Big 10 runners. She clocked an outdoor personal-best time of 17:16.88, moving into third place on the Lady Flames' all-time outdoor 5K list.

Abigail Flower qualified for Saturday's 100-meter dash final by posting a time of 12.33 seconds into a noticeable (1.6 m/s) headwind.

Freshman Brittney Webley missed out on the 100-meter hurdles final but was able to claim the No. 9 spot in program history with her 14.51 effort.

Reigning Big South indoor women's high jump champion Kristen Willeford sailed over 5-3 on Friday, tying for sixth in the "A" section of the event.

Shelley Parker pole vaulted a season-best 10-11.75 to share eighth place in the event's "A" section.

Men's Meet Recap
On the men's side, Liberty recorded a pair of top-10 finishes on the day. Leading the way was Daniel Klase, whose top javelin throw pierced the ground at 190-7 for eighth place.

Fellow sophomore Kyle Wheeler long jumped 22-5.25 to tie for the 10th position.

The third and final day of the Shamrock Invitational will commence Saturday at 9 a.m. After the meet concludes, the Liberty men's and women's track & field teams will return to Lynchburg after their week-long stay on the Grand Strand.
