Liberty posted a pair of two-run innings and received a complete-game four-hitter from Chandler Ball, downing N.C. Central in game one of a doubleheader, Sunday in Durham, N.C.

The Lady Flames (7-8) have defeated N.C. Central (1-15) twice this weekend, heading into the final game of the NCCU Eagle Challenge, held at Parkwood Athletic Field.

Ball (3-2) allowed one unearned run on four hits, striking out a season-high five batters.

Megan Robinson went 2-for-3 for the second game in a row, scoring two runs. Zavodny recorded one stolen base, moving into third place in program history with 55 career stolen bases. Amber Donovan hit a two-run home run for the Lady Flames.

London Booker fell to 1-10 on the season, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits, while fanning five Lady Flames. Martha Batie led NCCU with two hits.

Nadia Jefferies recorded a one-out base hit in the bottom of the first, and advanced to second on a throwing error, before taking third on a wild pitch. Jefferies then scored on a groundout by Joy Simpson to make it 1-0.

Liberty took the lead with two runs in the top of the third inning. Katie Han reached on an error to open the inning. After a bunt single and a steal by Robinson, Zavodny plated both Han and Robinson with a single for a 2-1 Liberty edge.

Ball remained in control, retiring 13 straight NCCU batters beginning with Simpson's RBI groundout in the first inning. An error and a bunt single gave the Eagles two runners in the fifth inning. However, Ball got London Germ to ground out, ending the inning.

The Lady Flames added two tallies in the seventh inning. Robinson singled to right center with one out, and then Donovan went yard with her first homer of the season, good for a 4-1 Lady Flames advantage.

The host Eagles received a pair of baserunners in the bottom of the seventh, as Kayla McPeek walked and Batie singled up the middle. Ball then put the finishing touches on her four-hitter, striking out Germ to end the game.

Game two of today's doubleheader between Liberty and N.C. Central is now under way.
