Liberty freshman Joshua Edmonds placed sixth at Saturday's USATF Junior National Cross Country Championships in Boulder, Colo., earning the right to represent the United States at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Mombasa, Kenya next month.

Edmonds (Cooperstown, N.Y.) traversed the 8K course in 26:24, claiming the final qualifying spot. Minnesota high school senior, Elliot Heath will lead the American delegation to the March 24 event after winning on Saturday in a time of 26:07.

Edmonds' qualification marks the third-straight year a Liberty men's cross country runner hailing from the Empire State will wear a United States singlet in the world championships. Josh McDougal (Jr., Peru, N.Y.) was a part of the U.S. senior men's team in 2005, and younger brother Jordan McDougal (So., Peru, N.Y.) advanced to last year's world championships in Japan as a member of the U.S. junior men's squad.
