For the fourth time in the last six years, the Liberty men's squad posted a top-five finish at the IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships, which wrapped up Sunday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The Flames finished fifth while the Lady Flames ended up in a tie for 25th place in the ECAC Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Five Flames scored IC4A points on Sunday, highlighted by Caleb Edmonds' third-place 3K finish. As a result, Liberty finished the three-day meet with 31.5 points. Connecticut claimed the IC4A title with 104 points, far outdistancing runner-up Cornell's score of 57.5.

Meanwhile, Mychelle Cumings came in third in the ECAC shot put final on Sunday, contributing half of the Lady Flames' final point total of 12. That put Liberty in a tie for 25th place with Iona and UMBC. Connecticut also took home the ECAC trophy, finishing with 60.5 points to George Mason's 48.

IC4A Day Three Recap
A week after winning the Big South men's 3K title, Edmonds sliced 11 seconds off of his personal-best time for the event. His official clocking of 8:03.39 earned a third-place finish on Sunday, making him the second Liberty men's distance runner to place third at this meet. Teammate Josh MacDonald came in third in the 5K final on Saturday.

Senior Kevin Reddington recorded the highest IC4A finish of his career, placing fifth with a leap of 22-11.25. Reddington's top mark of the competition came on his sixth and final attempt, catapulting him from eighth place to fifth.

For the fourth straight season, Ryan Smith was a scorer in the shot put at this meet. On Sunday, the Georgia native reached 55-3.5 on his best throw and finished sixth.

Paul Arslain improved from an eighth-place finish in the 2012 IC4A 500-meter dash final to sixth on Sunday. His time was a personal-best 1:03.52.

Jarred Cornfield was yet another sixth-place finisher for the Flames, racing to a time of 2:26.39 in the 1,000-meter run and scoring the first IC4A points of his career.

Cody Bingham, who had earlier placed eighth in the IC4A heptathlon, pole vaulted on Sunday. He equaled his personal best with a 15-9 clearance, tying for 15th place in the competition.

ECAC Day Three Recap

Abigail Flower just missed scoring points in the 60-meter dash final, finishing ninth with a 7.75 clocking.

Sophomore Jacy Christiansen clocked the second-fastest indoor 3K time in program history on Sunday, a personal-best 9:48.91. The effort placed the Big South 3K champion 14th overall in the event.

With Liberty's 2012-13 indoor track & field season now complete, the Flames and Lady Flames will begin the 2013 outdoor campaign with a pair of meets in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The first of those meets, the Coastal Carolina Invitational, will be contested Friday and Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
