The Liberty swimming team enters day three on Saturday at the 2012 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships in second place, with 378 points. Three-time defending champion Florida Gulf Coast leads the women's competition after two days at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
On day two, Liberty posted eight top-three finishes, two conference records, four program records, three NCAA B cuts and two event victories. Freshman Jess Reinhardt set a new conference record to win the 100 fly, in an NCAA B cut 53.18, while Bethany Wakeley placed second in a lifetime-best 54.72.
Freshman Laura Day took first in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a personal-best 1:01.45, good for an NCAA B cut. Emilie Kaufman, who took third in finals of the 100 breaststroke, clocked a B standard swim and conference-record 1:01.04 in qualifying.
Brye Ravettine (55.68) and Emily Duff (55.72) took second and third, respectively, in the 100 back, while Cori Gary (1:50.73) tied for third in the 200 free. Liberty's 800 free relay placed second in a program-record 7:27.97.
This morning, Liberty will have entrants in the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and 1,650 freestyle.
Today's action will feature pool-side, live blog coverage as the Lady Flames compete in Athens. Look for coverage to begin shortly before the 10 a.m. prelims start with an interactive blog, where all are invited to interact with questions and comments.
