Rebekah Jenkins captured her second singles win of the year on Friday.

The Liberty Lady Flames tennis team captured its second consecutive win with a 4-0 victory over the visiting Morgan State Bears, Friday afternoon inside the Sports Racket.

Liberty improves its overall record to 2-4 (1-0 Big South) on the year, while Morgan State drops to 1-7.

"We did a tremendous job of carrying our momentum from the previous match into this one," stated Liberty head coach Jeff Maren. "The girls were focused and full of confidence. It's a pleasure to watch them play with confidence and belief."

With Morgan State competing with only five players, Liberty received a victory by default in the No. 6 singles position and a 1-0 lead before the match started.

Liberty was afforded a one match advantage in doubles play, when Cameron Richard and Valerie Thong won by default in the No. 3 position.

Brittany Yang and Jessie Boda secured the doubles tally for the Lady Flames, downing Jasmine Edwards and Ekaterina Iakovleva, 8-3. Liberty's No. 2 tandem improved to 4-2 on the year after their second consecutive win.

In the No. 1 doubles spot, Liberty's Rebekah Jenkins and Nicola Wellman held a 7-6 lead, before their match was called and ruled unfinished.

Liberty began singles play with a 2-0 advantage and Wellman quickly extended the lead to 3-0 with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tiffany Hughes. Wellman's second consecutive singles win in the No. 5 spot upped her record to 3-2 on the year.

Jenkins completed the 4-0 sweep for the Lady Flames with a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 rout of Cooper in the No. 2 position. The win evened up Jenkins singles record on the season at 2-2.

Liberty was leading in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, before the match was halted due to the Lady Flames closing out the victory. Yang led Edwards, 6-3, 5-1 and Alexandra Sheeran held a 6-0, 5-3 advantage over Russell.

In the No. 1 singles position, Richard trailed Iakovleva, 2-6, 0-3, when the match concluded.

The Lady Flames return to the court on Feb. 28, with a trip to Buies Creek, N.C. to face Campbell. Liberty's second Big South conference match of the season is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
